Homeopathy is a natural form medicine and is used by millions of people around the world. The aim is to stimulate an individual’s natural healing ability. It’s a safe and effective system of medicine, tailored to an individual’s unique situation. It works on the principle of ‘like cures like’. When a person becomes ill, the body displays symptoms as a way of alerting us to take action. By taking small amounts of a substance designed to produce similar symptoms, the inner energy or ‘vital force’ within us is activated and we can begin to heal.

Homeopathy works on the idea that the mind and body are connected and work together as one. Physical conditions are treated in relation to an individual’s mental, emotional and spiritual state. By helping the mind, body and spirit return to a natural balance, homeopathy supports the natural healing process. This short-animated cartoon explains what happens when someone visits a homeopath.

This form of natural medicine is appropriate for everyone at all stages of life. This short-animated cartoon explains that we are all different and that homeopathy treats the person and not the disease.

A homeopath will spend time getting to know you and is interested in all the different areas of your life that make you a unique individual. A homeopathic practitioner may prescribe natural remedies in tablet form, mother tinctures, suggest changes to an individual’s diet, use herbs to support weaker organs, and suggest vitamins and minerals to boost the ‘vital force’. Treatment may also take the form of flower essences to support mental and emotional well-being and colour therapy to strengthen the different body systems.

About Us

In 2017 a loose cooperative of holistic practitioners came together, seeking a centre to further their work. They found Heather Lodge. The group’s members live on Arran and work mainly with regular clients, some with chronic medical conditions, often with the support of local charities — ArCaS and the Mary Davies Trust.

Heather Lodge, set in the grounds of the historic Douglas Hotel, was originally a stable, but has been in use as a private dwelling for many years. There is an attractive and secluded garden. The premises provide several therapy rooms and a healing ambience. Plans are afoot to develop facilities for small groups, including yoga, mindfulness and Qi Gong.
