Alistair has been a qualified osteopath for over 10 years, he uses his knowledge, skill & passion to bring the benefits of osteopathy to islanders & visitors alike. Alistair works with both structural and cranial osteopathic technique.
Structural osteopathy works with the structure and function of the body on the principle that the health of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together. Osteopaths use physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension and to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues.
All osteopathic treatment aims to activate the innate self-healing ability of the body. A thorough case history and examination will guide the osteopath to a diagnosis and a suitable negotiated treatment plan or appropriate referral.
